Climate Action Amercentrale Essent in Geertruidenberg

Thirteen Greenpeace activists block the conveyor belt for the supply of coals to the coal-fired power plant 'Amercentrale' in Geertruidenberg. With this protest they prevent that the power plant keeps on burning coals and emits even more CO2. The carbon dioxide (CO2) that escapes during the power generation in coal-fired power plants causes dangerous climate change like the rising sea level in The Netherlands. The electricity suppliers are responsible for this. That is why Greenpeace places a banner reading 'Iedereen praat over het weer, wij veranderen het!', ondertekend door 'Uw energiebedrijf'. The text translates to English as 'Everbody talks about the weather, we change it!', signed by 'Your electricity supplier'. Greenpeace urges Essent, the owner of the Amercentrale, to close this power plant as soon as possible and invest in green energy to save the climate.
