The text painted on the box reads 'Smoking Kills', a warning against the devastating consequences of allowing coal-fired power plants to continue functioning in Europe. The text is similar to the warning you see on a package of cigarettes nowadays. With this action Greenpeace wants to urge the government to vote for sustainable energy and energy efficiency instead of giving space to new polluting coal-fired power plants. The government will debate about the climate and the Dutch energy policy on the 15th of June. A similar new coal-fired power plant E.ON is planning to build at the Maasvlakte will emit yearly more than 5,5 million tonnes of CO2. This will lead to more devastating climate change.
