Climate Action at Botas Oil Terminal Coal Platform in Turkey
Greenpeace activists have boarded and hang from one of the world's largest coal platforms at Botas Oil Terminal, stopping barges from importing coal to the Sugozu (Isken) coal fired power plant. Banner are displayed reading in English and Turkish "Quit Coal Save the Climate".
The Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior is on a four months tour in the Mediterranean sea to promote renewable energy and to encourage the countries in the region to stop using coal as an essential step to tackle climate change.

Rainbow Warrior Quit Coal Mediterranean Tour
As part of the four month "Quit Coal" ship tour in the Mediterranean sea, the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior visits Israel, Turkey and Greece. The expedition takes place in the run-up to crucial UN climate negotiations in Poznan, Poland, in December. The aim of the tour is to promote renewable energy and encourage the Mediterranean countries to quit the use of coal.
