They try to create a huge STOP sign next to a giant excavator, one of the largest lignite mines in Poland. The peaceful protest was physically interrupted by mine workers. More than 90% of energy in Poland is produced by burning coal making it one of the 20 biggest emitters of CO2 in the world.Locations:Eastern Europe-Konin-PolandDate:24 Nov, 2008Credit:© Greenpeace / Nick CobbingMaximum size:2336px X 3504pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Climate (campaign title)-Climbing actions-Day-Greenpeace activists-KWCI (GPI)-Landscapes-Lignite-Mines-Open-pit mining-Outdoors-PeopleShoot:Climate Rescue and COP 14 Summit in PoznanDocumenting events during the run up to the COP 14 United Nations Climate Change conference in Poznan, in and around the conference and the actions and demonstrations that took place nearby.
