© Greenpeace / Ex-Press / David AdairLocations:Bern (Switzerland)-Europe, East Europe, Alpine Countries-SwitzerlandDate:6 May, 2004Credit:© Greenpeace / Ex-Press / David AdairMaximum size:3024px X 2016pxRestrictions:FOR NON-COMMERCIAL GREENPEACE PUBLISHED MATERIAL EXCEPT FOR FUNDRAISING. As a representative of the committee (initiated by Greenpeace) „pro solarstadion.ch“ they are demanding that the BKW will increase the size of the proposed solar power plant on the roof of the "Stade de Suisse Wankdorf“ (the football stadium in Bern) up to 1,000 kilowatt. This will be a record size in Europe. The BKW has met this requirement so far that during the planning this expansion was taken into account. The plant will be finished in may 2005. Because YB fans, soccer players and the TV audience of the European Championships in 2008 will experience the advantages of solar energy, the committee is asking the BKW to advertise the benefits of solar energy in and around the stadium.
