Bad weather conditions delay salvage attempts of the grounded ship loaded with about 150,000 tons of coal and fuel oil. A representative of Subtech, the salvage contractor, says that the cargo and fuel oil is contained at the moment. Rough seas could shift the ship and this could break up the ship again and expose the coastline to coal and fuel oil pollution.
Local people are concerned about the threat of pollution on this section of the southern African coast line.
