Greenpeace volunteers and youth from Laguna Province lead a clean up of floating trash in and around Laguna Lake, 54 kilometers south of Manila, the largest lake in the Philippines and the second largest inland freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, which has been declared in danger of becoming biologically dead in five years. Threats include garbage dumps, untreated sewage, and various discharges from establishments and factories along its tributaries. The clean up was conducted even as the volunteers called on concerned government agencies to also protect Laguna Lake from less visible but equally dangerous chemical and organic pollutants.Locations:Laguna de Bay-Philippines-Southeast AsiaDate:20 Sep, 2008Credit:© Greenpeace / Jed DelanoMaximum size:3000px X 1996pxKeywords:Cleaning-Gloves-Greenpeace volunteers-Inflatables (boats)-Kayaks-KWCI (GPI)-Lakes-Oceans (campaign title)-One person-Plastics-Pollutants-Public engagement-Rubbish-Toxics (campaign title)-Waste management-Water-Water pollutionShoot:World Coastal Clean Up Day In LagunaGreenpeace together with the youth from Laguna Province celebrates World Coastal Clean Up Day in Laguna Lake, 54 kilometers South of Manila.
