Dead Sperm Whale on a Beach in Scheveningen

Greenpeace analysed blubber samples from seven sperm whales stranded on North Sea beaches in the Orkney Islands and the Netherlands. These showed concentrations of a variety of organochlorines such as PCBs, DDT and hexachlorobenzene. These results show that even in open waters large whales are accumulating chemicals in their bodies.
