Dean Wilson at Atchafalaya Basin Pipeline Construction Area
Atchafalaya Basinkeeper, Dean Wilson measuring the pipeline right-of-way in the basin already cleared by workers employed by the Bayou Bridge Pipeline LLC.
The permit allows a 75 foot wide pipeline right-of-way, which it can clear before construction of the pipeline. Wilson measured the pipeline right-of-way in three spots that have been cleared in the basin on land owned by the state and found the company cleared more than 80ft across.

Construction continues on the Bayou Bridge Pipeline in Acadia Parish in Louisiana. The Bayou Bridge Pipeline (BBP), is a crude oil pipeline project through Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin and across 11 parishes. It is to connect an oil-and-gas hub in Texas with oil refineries in Louisiana. The planned 162 miles of pipeline have been estimated to cost $670 million.
Conceptually similar
