Deforestation of 1,700 Hectares in the Jamanxim APA in the Amazon in Brazil
In a richly biodiverse region in the Amazon, a land grabbing scheme is destroying unprotected forest areas. Vô Manoel farm was registered in one of those areas, in Novo Progresso, Pará state, which is public and belongs to the government. Between February and March, 2020, 1,700 hectares were deforested.

Em uma região rica em biodiversidade da Amazônia, um esquema articulado de grilagem tem levado à destruição de áreas de florestas não protegidas. A fazenda Vô Manoel foi registrada em uma dessas áreas pertencentes à União, no município de Novo Progresso (PA) e, entre fevereiro e março de 2020, foram desmatados 1.700 hectares de floresta.

Every year, Greenpeace Brazil flies over the Amazon to monitor deforestation build up and forest fires. In July, 2020, flights were made over points with Deter (Real Time Deforestation Detection System) and fire warnings, made by Inpe (National Institute for Space Research), in Pará and Mato Grosso states.
