Locations:Alpine Countries-Bern (Switzerland)-Europe-SwitzerlandDate:13 Aug, 2001Credit:© Greenpeace / / David AdairMaximum size:2000px X 1312pxRestrictions:Images ok for use in all Greenpeace campaigns, products and brochures. The activists were all dressed in old-style prisoner's suits and their mouths sealed with tape. Since early July, 15 Greenpeace activists peacefully and nonviolently protested at Vandenberg Air Force Base in Southern California against the fourth 'Star Wars' missile test, they now need to face heavy prison sentences. Together with two journalists who were trying to report on what' happened they were threatened with up to six years imprisonment. Today, the preliminary hearing takes place. Greenpeace Switzerland calls on the USA to respect the protest against the missile plans as a legitimate expression of free speech and to stop the “Star Wars” immediately. Protests are also held in other countries.
