Greenpeace has demonstrated, one more time, that French nuclear facilities are not sufficiently protected in the event of a malicious attack. But what is unbelievable is that this drone could place a distress smoke signal on the roof of the pool, the weak point of a building which contains the highest concentration of radioactive material on earth. Locations:Europe-France-La Hague (France)Date:25 Jan, 2019Credit:© GreenpeaceLatitude:49°40'43.62"NMaximum size:2294px X 1290pxLongitude1°52'36.88"WKeywords:Actions and protests-Aerial view-Aerial view from UAV-Areva-Danger-Day-KWCI (GPI)-La Hague Nuclear Reprocessing Plants-Non-violent direct actions-Nuclear (campaign title)-Nuclear power stations-Outdoors-Security (concept)-Smoke-Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)Shoot:Distress Smoke Signal on Orano’s Nuclear Facility in La Hague (Photo)A drone flown by Greenpeace activists placed a distress smoke signal on the roof of the spent fuel pool of Orano’s (former Areva) nuclear facility in La Hague located in North West of France. They intend to highlight the risk of saturation and vulnerability of this pool. Indeed, this building contains the equivalent of a hundred irradiated nuclear cores. However, its metal roof is far too fragile to protect this pool full of radioactive waste in case of a malicious airborne act.Related Collections:Distress Smoke Signal on Orano’s Nuclear Facility in La Hague (Photo & Video)
