The nuclear power plant Borssele produces highly dangerous radioactive waste and is a potential target for terroristic attacks. The action takes place just before the Parliament debates about the closing of the nuclear power plant in 2013. State Secretary Van Geel has suggested to keep Borssele open after 2013. This is against the coalition agreement. Greenpeace demands that the government closes the nuclear power plant in 2013 and votes for a real sustainable energy policy with energy saving and investment in positive energy, like wind, sun and biomass. Borssele produces every ten years 200 waste barrels with highly radioactive waste. Only for this reason nuclear energy will never be a solution for climate change. In addition there are many safety risks. Borssele is with its 32 years one of the oldest nuclear power plants in the world and the nuclear power plants are a dangerous weak spot for terrorism', states Climate and Energy campaigner Femke Bartels.
