Eemshaven Coal Plant Protest in Groningen

Activist demonstrates in Groningen against the Essent/RWE coal plant in the Eemshaven. With this action, a few hundreds activists urge the government to take concrete steps to phase out fossil fuels. Like many scientists and politicians, Greenpeace also pleads for closure of all coal plants in the Netherlands and with the outcomes of the COP21 climate conference in Paris this should be a reasonable decision.

Anti Kolen Demonstratie in Groningen 
Vertegenwoordigers en supporters van verschillende NGO's demonstreren in Groningen tegen de Essent/RWE kolencentrale in de Eemshaven. Met deze demonstratie roepen ze de regering op tot het nemen van concrete stappen om het gebruik van fossiele brandstoffen uit te faseren. Net als vele wetenschappers en politici pleit Greenpeace voor sluiting van alle kolencentrales. Met de uitkomsten van de klimaatconferentie die in 2015 in Parijs is gehouden is dit een reëele beslissing. De demonstratie wordt georganiseerd door: Ver. Zuivere Energie, BI Saubere Luft Ostfriesland, Greenpeace, Co2ntramine, Urgenda, Milieudefensie, Groen Front, Wijstoppensteenkool, Fossielvrij.

Eemshaven Coal Plant Protest in Groningen

A few hundred people demonstrate in Groningen against the Essent/RWE coal plant located nearby in the Eemshaven. The demonstration is organized by several NGO's among which Greenpeace. After the walk through the central area of the city Groningen a debate is held with as main discussion item what the outcomes of the 2015 Climate Negotiations in Paris mean for this region in the Netherlands.
