El Niño Impacts Documentation In Northern Thailand

Cracked riverbed of the Ping river at Nong Saleek Dam, Pa Sang District, Lamphun Province. Ping river is one of the four main tributaries to Chao Phraya, one of the major rivers in Thailand that supplies water to agriculture areas in the north and the central of Thailand.
The wet season is under way, but 31 out of 77 provinces in Thailand have been suffering from drought brought by El Niño, according to Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. Water rationing took place in almost one third of the country.
