Police arrest Greenpeace activist Ashby Smith of San Francisco. Smith, along with other environmental activists, locked herself to a school bus transformed into a massive, smoking coal power plant. Greenpeace took action to convince Edison Mission Energy to stop proposed plans to build a coal-fired power plant in Thailand. The protest continued through the night and escalated in the morning when the activists moved the bus to block a portion of the employee parking lot.
