Environmental Crisis in Chiloé Island in Chile
People and fishermen from Chiloé protesting for the dumping of 5.000 tonnes of dead salmon in the oceans. After the dumping, Chiloé has one of the worst red tide episodes.
Thousands of animals such as birds, crabs and seals were found dead on the beaches of the Chilean island of Chiloé and it's one of the country's worst environmental disasters in history.
Greenpeace calls for an investigation after approximately five thousand tons of rotting salmon was discharged from salmon farming centers into the ocean on the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago off the coast of Chile, in the Pacific Ocean.

Environmental Crisis in Chiloé Island in Chile
Activists and researchers from Greenpeace Chile have travelled to Chiloé Island to document the crisis caused by the mass mortality of marine species on the coast of Chile. In the last month alone, thousands of marine animals including birds, crabs and seals have washed ashore, dead, on Chiloé’s beaches. The call for an investigation comes after approximately five thousand tons of rotting salmon was discharged from salmon farming centers into the ocean on the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago off the coast of Chile, in the Pacific Ocean.
