Expectant Couple in Henan
Zhang Qiaoliang and his pregnant wife Su Yunxia at home with their wedding pictures. Zhang Qiaoliang, 25 years old, died of throat cancer just before the birth of his child, shortly after this photo was taken. The cluster of paper and chemical factories about 15km upstream is discharging polluted waste water into the stream used by the village where Zhang Qiaoliang lived. To protect the health of the local population and the environment Greenpeace is calling for zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.
