Family Living near Factory Farm in Lescout, France
Near the village of Lescout there is a big hen factory farm, currently farming 185,000 hens. According to reports from locals to Greenpeace France, several cases of illness have been recorded among the students of the primary school of Lescout, located only 500 meters away from the factory farm. Jean-Claude Grout, a 44 years old wood-turning teacher and father of three children, first moved to Lescout with the desire to explore with his family a deeper bond with nature. But now he would like to be far away from the factory farm. His daughter was a student at the school of Lescout and suffered from severe gastric and digestion issues. According to Jean-Claude, his child had pains that were preventing her from carrying out daily activities, even eating. Jean-Claude explained to Greenpeace France that doctors couldn't identify the reason for these mysterious symptoms, but the pains completely disappeared when the child was removed from the school in Lescout.

Hen Factory Farm in France
The egg laying hen factory farm of Lescout, Gallès, located a few hundred meters away from the village, is the only industrial facility for animal agriculture of the area and is currently farming 185,000 hens. First built in the 1980s, it steadily grew and was expanded in 2016 to the modern and highly industrial facility it is today. The owner is planning to expand more as a building permit has been requested for a new building. The village of Lescout has only 700 inhabitants. The quantity of hens in the factory farm outnumbers the population of the village by 264 times.
