FarmErasmus Programme in Bulgaria
On the first day of the FarmErasmus programme in Bulgaria, French farmers visit dairy and cereal farms in the region of Nikopol to gain first-hand experience of sustainable farming methods. The methods range from achieving self-sufficiency in animal feed and dairy livestock, to finding pesticide-free alternatives to the spraying of neonicotinoid pesticides or the herbicide glyphosate.
Greenpeace, together with 16 farmers from across Europe, launched the FarmErasmus programme, a knowledge exchange program enabling farmers interested in innovation to visit ecological farms.
FarmErasmus is a visit programme managed by Greenpeace France in cooperation with other offices to allow farmers within the EU to spend a bit of time on a ‘host farm’ where they can study a particular aspect of ecological farming in practice. FarmErasmus is a non commercial ecological farming exchange program. It is not sponsored by the European Commission and it is not affiliated in any way to the EU Erasmus or Erasmus+ Programme.
