Fashion Show at Leather Fair in Italy
Greenpeace stages an alternative fashion show with Italian top models in Bologna during "Linea Pelle", the world's largest leather industry fair. The models are wearing dresses made with organic fibers and recycled material as an alternative to leather. With this action Greenpeace aims to expose the link between fashion leather production and the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. As cattle ranching is responsible for about 80 per cent of deforestation in Brazil, it is likely that Brazilian leather used by manufacturers in their products (shoes, handbags, jackets and so on) comes from areas of cleared rainforest.
