Fighting Inequality Concert in Manila
Protests were launched in different countries as the World Economic Forum convened in the mountain resort of Davos, Switzerland. A global week of action was organized by the Fight Inequality Alliance to highlight the growing gap between the rich and the poor. In the Philippines, national movements, people's organizations, non-government and civil society groups held an assembly and concert at an impoverished community in Intramuros at the heart of the country’s capital, Manila. The venue was handpicked by the organizers for the proximity of extreme poverty to influential institutions such as the Comelec, the labor department, Manila Cathedral, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Manila Hotel, the National Press Club and the Intramuros Golf Club.

Fighting Inequality Concert in the Philippines
In the Philippines, national movements, people's organizations, non-government and civil society groups held an assembly and concert at an impoverished community in Intramuros at the heart of the country’s capital, Manila. The venue was handpicked by the organizers for the proximity of extreme poverty to influential institutions such as the Comelec, the labor department, Manila Cathedral, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Manila Hotel, the National Press Club and the Intramuros Golf Club. Among the musicians who perfomed at the "anti-inequality concert" were Gary Granada, Lolita Carbon, Bayang Barrios Nilayagan Band, Teatro Pabrika, Village Idiots, Bong Ramilo, Philippine Underground Artist, Musika Publiko, and Teatro Proletaryo.
Fight Inequality Alliance-Philippines is composed of Oriang Women’s Movement, Kongreso ng Pagkakaisa ng Maralitang Lungsod (KPML), ZOTO, Sanlakas, Bukluran ng Manggawang Pilipino (BMP), Asian Peoples Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), Asia-Europe Peoples Forum (AEPF), Philippine Movement for Climate Justice, OxFam, Greenpeace Southeast Asia, Freedom From Debt Coalition, Focus on the Global South, Dignidad Coalition, and Samahan ng Progresibong Kabataan (SPARK).
