Fisheries Management Action against Bottom Trawling in Chile
Before the start of negotiations to create a Regional Fisheries Management Organization for the South Pacific, activists dressed as deep-sea creatures were “caught” and raised eight meters in a giant net, with a banner that read 'NO BOTTOM TRAWLING'. They were “unloaded” in front of the Chilean Subsecretariat of Fishing office. Greenpeace demands that the Chilean government adopt the ecosystem approach and the unilateral ban of the bottom trawling fleet in the negotiations of the Regional Fisheries Management Organization (RFMO) for the South Pacific.
