This second such agreement comes less than a year after Palau and Greenpeace conducted a successful joint surveillance exercise, netting an illegal shark fishing and finning operation in December 2011. The patrol will be the final part of Greenpeace's Defending Our Pacific Tour in which the Greenpeace ship Esperanza has visited South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong and will now search for pirate fishing in international waters near Palau.Locations:Koror-Micronesia-Oceania-Pacific Islands-PalauDate:2 Nov, 2012Credit:© Alex Hofford / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5516px X 3677pxKeywords:Defending Our Oceans (campaign title)-Documents-Fishing (Industry)-Government buildings-Greenpeace campaigners-Greenpeace crew-Greenpeace staff-Hands-Illegal-Indoors-KWCI (GPI)-Law-Legislative buildings-Men-Oceans (campaign title)-Office buildings-Overfishing-Pirate fishing-Presidents (Political leader)-Small group of people-Two peopleShoot:East Asian Ocean Defender's TourThe Greenpeace ship Esperanza starts her tour in South Korea to highlight the problems of overfishing and raise awareness of the South Korean government's plans to resume whaling for what it calls 'scientific research.' After the 2-months East Asia tour including stops in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, the Esperanza carries on in the Pacific Ocean and reaches Palau. The Pacific tour covers Palau's waters as well as the Pacific commons, where Greenpeace is calling for a marine reserve.Related Collections:Ocean Defenders Tour in East Asia 2012 (Photo + Video)
