Despite its wide-known importance in conserving socio-biodiversity and its essential role in maintaining world climate conditions, the Amazon forest still presents fire spots and vast areas of accumulated ashes. Forest fires pose a threat to people, animals and contribute to increasing greenhouse gas emissions. In 2018, in spite of its decrease in absolute numbers, fire spots increased in the most deforested states. Locations:Amazon-Amazonas-Brazil-South AmericaDate:1 Oct, 2018Credit:© Daniel Beltrá / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5000px X 3333pxKeywords:Aerial view-Day-Forests (campaign title)-Forests (topography)-KWCI (GPI)-Outdoors-Tropical rainforestsShoot:Forest Fires in Brazilian Amazon (Photos)In an overflight in early October 2018, Greenpeace witnessed a concentration of deforestation to the west of the Amazon, which included several burned areas within protected areas.Related Collections:Forest Fires in Brazilian Amazon 2018 (Photos & Video)
