Forests in Jämtland, Sweden - Clipreel
Greenpeace is conducting forest inventories and documenting forestry activities in the Swedish part of the Great Northern Forest.
This area has been clearcut, despite being located in a High Value Forest Landscape, which means the area has been identified by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency as having particularly high ecological preservation values.
The area was logged at the time of the field visit. At the edges of the area indicator species were identified, of which some has the ‘near threatened’ status on the Red List of Swedish Species.
The close-up images of berries and insects at the end of the clip reel are from a different areas nearby that has not been logged, within the same High Value Forest Landscape.
