GE Protest Against Syngenta Patents in Basel
At the Annual General Meeting of Syngenta, a protest was held by Swissaid, Greenpeace and the Bern Declaration in front of the entrance and with direct interventions in the shareholders' meeting, against the Agro-group. Syngenta wants to patent important features of rice and other useful plants to gain a monopoly position. Victims of this broad patent claims are farmers, but also researchers and plant breeders. The three organisations urge Syngenta to withdraw these patents.
