Green(washing) Finance Action in Luxembourg
As Greenpeace Luxembourg and Switzerland reveal their study ‘Green(washing) finance: Sustainability funds fail to live up to their name’, activists take a stand to draw attention to Luxembourg’s Kirchberg district, the heart of the country’s financial sector and of the largest fund domicile in Europe. The slogan on their banner ‘All that glitters is not green - #StopGreenwashingFinance’ – appropriately painted in gold paint – encapsulates the main conclusion of the study: so-called ‘green’ investments fail in their mission to redirect capital to a sustainable economy. Greenpeace Luxembourg and Greenpeace Switzerland urge policymakers to secure binding standards to fight greenwashing that require sustainability funds to align with the Paris Agreement climate goals.
