Greenpeace Confronts Fishermen - Mediterranean Tour 2006 - Rainbow Warrior - Life Onboard

Greenpeace confronts Italian coastal drift net fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Sicily. They claimed to be fishing with 2.5Km nets, which are legal in the eyes of the law. However, Greenpeace observed that they were carrying a second 2.5Km net, making it possible for them to fish with 5Km nets. Their response to this was that these second 2.5Km nets were carried sealed, as spares and therefore complied with the law. The Rainbow Warrior is in the Mediterranean for a three-month ship tour calling for a network of large-scale marine reserves to protect the health and productivity of the Mediterranean Sea.
