The Darlington station comprises 4 CANDU nuclear reactors and provides approximately 20% of Ontario's electricity needs. The Ontario government plans to build 2 new reactors at the station. In 2011, Greenpeace participated in a federal environmental review of of the new reactor build and subsequently launched a judicial review challenging the validity of the review panel's decision to approve the project. This judicial review is currently underway.
