Groundhog in Canadian Boreal Forest

Groundhog (Marmota monax).
These mammals are never found far from their burrows, which are usually located in open landscapes and at the edge of woods. These burrows can consist of tunnels up to 14 meters long and as deep as 1.5 meters below ground. They can be found in many parts of North America, including across the boreal forest.
