Member of the Greenpeace volunteers group in Berlin holds a sign reading "Protect the Antarctic" during a Group Action Day. In combination with an information stand the group highlights an historic opportunity for marine conservation: in Autumn 2018, the Antarctic Commission CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) will decide on the creation of the world's largest marine protected area in the Weddell Sea.

72 volunteer groups in 75 German cities are taking part. 

Einen Wegweiser mit der Aufschrift „Weddellmeer 14.502 Kilometer“ hat die Greenpeace-Gruppe Berlin heute am Brandenburger Tor positioniert.

Mit der Aktion und einem Informationsstand machen die Ehrenamtlichen auf eine historische Chance fuer den Meeresschutz aufmerksam: Im Herbst 2018 wird die Antarktis-Kommission CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) ueber die Schaffung des weltgroeßten Meeresschutzgebiets im Weddellmeer entscheiden.

An dem Gruppenaktionstag (GAT) nehmen 72 Ehrenamtliche Gruppen aus 75 verschiedenen deutschen Staedten teil.
