Intact Forest Landscapes and Indigenous People in Yunnan Province of China

The Hengduan Mountain Range in Yunnan province of China kept its original natural landscape and cultural landscape. It is one of the only remaining IFL (Intact Forest Landscapes) in China, and is full of biodiversity. In 2003, UNESCO listed 3 paralleled Rivers area in the northwest of Yunnan province as World Natural Heritage sites. After the implementation of Natural Forest Protection Programme, the former loggers, hunters, herdsmen, and officials became forest rangers and forest policemen. Indigenous people now practice an ethos of modern ecology protection alongside their traditional faith.
