Lesson of Fukushima: Press Conference at Rainbow Warrior
Rainbow Warrior returns to Busan, Korea. Greenpeace holds a press conference at the Rainbow Warrior, the Greenpeace flagship. At the conference, the presentation on the Fukushima Daiichi radiation survey is given by Shaun Burnie, Senior Nuclear Expert and Daul Jang, Senior Climate & Energy Campaigner.
Recently Greenpeace conducted the radiation survey work offshore of Fukushima Daiichi, Japan. No other such a survey work has been conducted before. The survey includes a seabed survey, marine sediment sampling and the underwater still/video documentations by a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV). Rainbow Warrior acted as a campaign support ship for the survey work.
The world’s largest nuclear power plants site is located between Busan and Ulsan. The Kori Nuclear Power Complex already have seven reactors, and there are around 3.4 million people living within the 30km zone around the plant. The Korean government is planning to build two additional reactors at the complex.
