Local Population in Ukraine

Halina Chmulevich is a single mother of two children living in the rural Rokytne District. She has limited possibilities for cleaner foodstuffs and relies on the state programme that provides kids with clean food at schools and kindergartens.

To understand better how contamination affects the lives of Chernobyl survivors, Greenpeace carries out two pilot investigations into the remaining radionuclide contamination of locally produced food and forests.
