The house of Thomas Drieux, 42 years old, municipal councilor, is located one thousand meters away from the farm. According to him, the smell prevents him and his family from being outdoors. Thomas has two young children and is concerned for their health. Thomas explains during the interview with Greenpeace: “According to my calculations, in ten years, the population has increased by 38%, the cancer rate 100%. (...) This shows that the village has 2.9 times more than the national cancer percentage.” A cause-effect has not been proven, and locals like Thomas see the need for independent medical research commissioned by the authorities. In this picture, Thomas is sitting on his son’s bed, after sharing their difficult situation he says: “I also intend to move [from the village], but I do not know yet if I will be able to sell the house. I hope it's not too late for my children.”Locations:Europe-France-Lescout-OccitanieDate:12 Dec, 2018Credit:© Greenpeace / Wildlight / Selene MagnoliaMaximum size:4704px X 3528pxKeywords:Agriculture-Air pollution-Chickens-Factory Farming-Illness-Indoors-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Meat-Meat and Dairy (campaign title)-Men-One person-Sadness-VictimsShoot:Hen Factory Farm in FranceThe egg laying hen factory farm of Lescout, Gallès, located a few hundred meters away from the village, is the only industrial facility for animal agriculture of the area and is currently farming 185,000 hens.
