Map of Karipuna Indigenous Land and CARs in Brazil - Detail

Based on analyses conducted by Greenpeace Brazil and Cimi, several CARs (Rural Environmental Registry) overlap or surround the Karipuna Indigenous Land. Because of land invasion and deforestation, the Karipuna people are suing the state of Rondônia and the Brazilian Government for allowing these registries to be made, going against what the Brazilian Constitution states and making all invasions legal. The Karipuna territory was one of the top 10 deforested Indigenous Lands in Brazil in 2020.
