Margiris Trawler Blockade in IJmuiden

Greenpeace activists prevent Europe's largest fishing PFA vessel, the 'Margiris KL749, a Dutch owned super trawler sailing under Lithuanian flag from leaving IJmuiden port. The activists occupy the anchor chain and stay there for almost one week. Ships like the 142 m long Margiris catch such enormous amounts of fish that the local fishery community in the countries where they fish get into problems. The activists are in contact with the Greenpeace organization through walkie-talkie.

UPDATE: In late 2012, the Margiris was renamed 'Abel Tasman.'
