Impact of Seismic Testing on Marine Mammels in New Zealand
Marine biologist Heather Braid and marine scientist Matt Pine join the SV Vega to monitor the impacts of seismic testing on marine mammals in the Reinga Basin. This is research the NZ government should have done before it started issuing permits to big oil companies. Evidence from marine scientists around the world suggests that seismic testing is bad for whales and dolphins. TGS is conducting a four-month seismic testing programme in the Reinga Basin on behalf of a number of companies including Statoil from Norway.
