The Kimberly is pumping menhaden out of their seine into the hold to haul them back to Reedville for reduction. This is the height of industrial fishing where the target species is never even touched by human hands and moved like coal, corn or other industrial produced commodities. Atlantic menhaden, are known to ocean ecologists as the "breadbasket of the ocean," though some prefer to call them "the most important fish in the sea." Because there's money to be made, menhaden, all the fish that rely on them for food, and the entire ocean ecosystem are in trouble.
