Mini Marathon-Run for Krabi in Bangkok
Over 1,500 Greenpeace supporters, volunteers, youth groups and runners unfold a 5x12 meter dugong shaped banner with a message ‘Protect Krabi’ at the ‘Greenpeace Mini Marathon – Run for Krabi’ event to show their attempt to safeguard the rich and healthy biodiversity of Krabi’s natural resources from destructive coal power plant and coal sea port project. Krabi is known as one of the largest seagrass areas in Thailand and are habitats for dugong. The estuary of the Krabi River is also listed as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and is one of the richest wetland areas among other 10 Ramsar sites in Thailand.
