Mobilization against Fuel Poverty in France
For the first « National day against fuel poverty », residents of several cities in France participated in citizens' rallies to denounce the poor energy quality of their homes and the heavy heating costs on their budget.
They deployed giant banners on building facades, supported by the Abbé Pierre Foundation, Citizen Alliance and Greenpeace France in order to challenge authorities on this emergency.
At the crossroads of social and ecological issues, fuel poverty is a form of poor housing that affects 12 million people in France. However, this massive phenomenon is still too often absent in the collective consciousness and in the media, while the major project of energy renovation and the fight against poor housing should mobilize all energies.
