Iitate is located more than 40km from the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant. Even though it lies outside the 20km exclusion zone, it is still dangerously contaminated. The people of Iitate and surrounding villages have all left, as has Mr Tada’s family, leaving him behind at the shrine to continue his religious duties and help any others who have remained. “The accident has destroyed our community, its population scattered across the region,” he says.Locations:Asia-Fukushima Prefecture-Iitate-JapanDate:1 Nov, 2011Credit:© Robert Knoth / GreenpeaceMaximum size:7000px X 5741pxKeywords:Day-Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant-Half length-Indoors-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Men-Natural disasters-Nuclear (campaign title)-Nuclear accidents-Nuclear radiation-One person-Portraits-Radiation victims-Religious movements and conceptsShoot:Fukushima Inhabitants and Evacuees PortraitsPortraits of Fukushima inhabitants, some still living in the area, others evacuated to other cities, in preparation for the one year anniversary of the Japanese tsunami and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant disasters.Related Collections:Fukushima One Year On5th Anniversary of Fukushima Disaster in Japan5th Anniversary of Fukushima Nuclear Disaster (Photos & Videos)
