Munduruku and Greenpeace Demarcate Indigenous Lands in the Amazon
Munduruku indigenous people demarcate Indigenous Lands of Sawré Muybu village, in Kay waterfall on river Jamanxim. The Munduruku people have inhabited the Sawré Muybu in the heart of the Amazon, for generations. The Brazilian government plans to build a series of dams in the Tapajos River basin, which would severely threaten their way of life. In addition to preserving their way of life, the demarcation of Sawré Muybu ensures the conservation of 178,000 hectares of Amazonian rainforest.

Os Munduruku fazem plaqueamento de auto demarcação da TI Sawré Muybu, na cachoeira Kay, no rio Jamanxim. O povo Munduruku habita a Terra Indígena Sawré Muybu, no coração da Amazônia, há gerações. Mas seu modo de vida está ameaçado pelos planos do governo brasileiro de construir um complexo de barragens na bacia do Rio Tapajós. Por isso, os Munduruku começaram a sinalizar o território auto-demarcado e pedem pela demarcação definitiva. Além de garantir a manutenção do modo de vida deste povo, a demarcação de Sawré Muybu garante a conservação de 178 mil hectares de floresta amazônica.
