Greenpeace nuclear campaigner Thomas Breuer and Naoto Kan, the Prime Minister of Japan at the time of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident. Mr Kan was onboard the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior as it sailed passed the destroyed nuclear plant, on the eve of the fitfh anniversery of the nuclear accident. The environmental organization has launched an underwater investigation into the marine impacts of radioactive contamination resulting from the 2011 nuclear disaster on the Pacific Ocean. The former Prime Minister declared that the nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi is not over, including major threats from contaminated water from the site; restated his opposition to nuclear power in Japan, and called for its energy policy in Japan to be based on renewable energy.
