Covra (Central Organization for Radioactive Waste) is owner of HABOG and the nuclear power plant Borssele. Due for shutdown in 2013 the Dutch government is considering to keep Borssele operational. Greenpeace finds this very irresponsible, because a nuclear power plant is an easy target for terroristic attacks and can never be protected for one hundred percent. In addition nuclear waste remains highly dangerous for 240,000 years. Borssele also contributes to the danger of nuclear weapons due to the production of plutonium, yearly about one hundred kilos. For making a nuclear bomb eight kilos will do. Greenpeace demands from the government the closing of Borssele and serious investment in safe and positive energy from sun, wind and biomass.
