Hours before historic UN Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) talks began in New York 250 Greenpeace activists entered Sellafield nuclear reprocessing plant and occupied the BNFL site in 6 places, including the new plutonium production facility THORP. 5 activists remained on site undetected for 24 hours. A 20 foot container was used to block the road to the plant. At the same time Greenpeace occupied the Aldermaston nuclear weapons factory. UK.
