Ocean Stories: Why this Lobster Fisherman Opposes Oil Drilling
An oil spill in the Great Australian Bight wouldn’t just damage marine life and beaches, it would put jobs and communities at risk. Meet Aaron, a Port Lincoln fisherman, explaining what the ocean means to him and his town.
Since 14 Aaron Whittle has spent most of his life at sea, but now he is seeing his job, passion and community at risk - with big oil companies, like Statoil, planning to start deep sea oil drilling in the Bight.
Companies have already been conducting seismic testing to find oil, putting lobsters and all marine life in the Bight, at great risk.
