Policymakers in Sacramento, including Governor Jerry Brown, gained first hand experience of the consequences of oil and gas development and extraction when Greenpeace activists erected a mock oil field in front of the Capitol building. Ahead of Brown's Global Climate Action Summit, and as wildfires ravage Mendocino and Lake counties, the action was intended to show Brown and other decision makers the consequences of policies that put the interests of the fossil fuel industry over those of their constituents.
