Oil Spill Banner Action at Island of Salamis

Greenpeace Greece activists unfold 'Soon at a beach near you' banner to respond to oil spill in the Saronic gulf, just a few miles away from the city of Athens.

The spill, caused by the sinking of a small oil tanker, despite its small size, has polluted the island of Salamis and is now reaching the coastline of the Athens metropolitan area, due to slow response by the government and the company.

Greenpeace volunteer teams, in coordination with the companies responsible for the decontamination operations, are helping out with the clean-up process at heavily affected beaches in the area of Glyfada.
